Book Launch Party A Success!

I have wanted to post these photos for weeks! And I tell you, if it wasn't one thing, it was the other. I am excited to get them up now!

The book launch party was so much fun! And it was a great success! Thank you to everyone who attended! It was great to see you all! And I really appreciate your support!

Also, a big thank-you to the following people: Nancy, for acting as MC—she did a fantastic job! (She told me later she was as nervous as I was, but you'd have never known!) Sabrina, for acting as the event photographer! I've mentioned before this girl takes a mean photo. As always, I encourage you to check out her site for more of her work. My mom and grandmother, for making the party possible! And The Best Western in Loveland, for putting on such a great event.

Swindling Mechanic Skit

This is a scene from the book, acted out at the book launch party. In this scene, Zoe Grey has just discovered, via her new mechanic, that her old mechanic had been swindling her. This skit is the confrontation that ensues. Because Zoe just isn't the kind of girl to let something like that go unchecked!

Book Trailer

Every book needs a book trailer. At least, that's what everyone says.

Never one to pass up an opportunity to bust out the video camera, I set to work. This project was a ton of fun! So much fun, I have two versions—and I can't choose between them!

Read the behind the scenes story of how the book trailer was made.

And now, without further ado, here is the book trailer for The Trouble with Murder!

The Trouble with Murder: Chapter Two

Chapter Two

I rolled out of bed after hitting the snooze button three times. I hadn’t slept well. I’d had vivid dreams that were ugly and destructive.
My life got off to a rocky and violent start. From violent, it phased to uncertain, but always it was hard. I’ve been seeing a therapist regularly to help deal with what that means. Normally, I’m rather well-adjusted, all things considered. I still have patterns of learned behavior I have to work to overcome, but usually I’m successful and can function without major incident in polite society.

The Trouble with Murder: Chapter One

Chapter One

I was late. I’d agreed to meet Stacy Karnes at six. It was ten minutes past, and I was another ten away. Traffic was light; maybe I could cut that time in half. I hoped she would still be there when I arrived. Some people wouldn’t be.

I hit end as the call dropped to voicemail. I’d already left a message. Stacy wasn’t answering her phone.

Stacy had called me that morning and asked to see the apartment. She had pressed me for a same-day appointment. Something in her voice had caused me to agree, even though it required me to work late. Already crammed full, my schedule hadn’t afforded me the time I’d needed when a new client had walked into my office that evening. Now I was late.

The Trouble with Murder Book Description

Zoe Grey is between jobs, between boyfriends, and between crises. Things seem to be looking up. Until all she's looking at is trouble.

Before she knows it, witnessing a brutal stabbing leads to a dead guy in her living room and then a target on her back. Of course, Zoe isn't one to take these things lying down. Soon she's on the hunt for answers.

But things are never that easy. Zoe lands herself smack in the middle of Detective Ellmann's homicide investigation, becoming the only suspect. Complicating things further is the mutual attraction between her and Ellmann.

The Beginning

When I was fifteen years old, I wrote this in a journal: "I have always wanted to write a book. I actually think I can pull it off."

That was the beginning

My earliest efforts were crude, of course, and so heavily slanted with teenage perspective they would have appealed to no one outside myself. But I persisted. And as I grew, so did the depth and perspective (and skill) of my stories, finally becoming something for which I could find a readership.
